A. PRESENT TENSES (Masa Sekarang / Rutinitas)

1. Simple Present Tense

Penggunaan: Menyatakan fakta umum atau kebiasaan rutinitas.

(+) S + V1 (s/es) + O  |  (-) S + do/does + not + V1 + O  |  (?) Do/Does + S + V1 + O?

• (+) She drinks coffee every morning.
• (-) She does not drink coffee every morning.
• (?) Does she drink coffee every morning?

2. Present Continuous Tense

Penggunaan: Kejadian yang sedang berlangsung saat ini.

(+) S + am/is/are + V-ing + O  |  (-) S + am/is/are + not + V-ing + O  |  (?) Am/Is/Are + S + V-ing + O?

• (+) They are playing football now.
• (-) They are not playing football now.
• (?) Are they playing football now?

3. Present Perfect Tense

Penggunaan: Kejadian yang sudah selesai/terjadi tetapi masih ada efeknya sekarang.

(+) S + has/have + V3 + O  |  (-) S + has/have + not + V3 + O  |  (?) Has/Have + S + V3 + O?

• (+) I have finished my homework.
• (-) I have not finished my homework.
• (?) Have you finished your homework?

4. Present Perfect Continuous Tense

Penggunaan: Aksi yang dimulai di masa lalu dan masih berlangsung hingga sekarang.

(+) S + has/have + been + V-ing + O  |  (-) S + has/have + not + been + V-ing + O  |  (?) Has/Have + S + been + V-ing + O?

• (+) He has been studying for 2 hours.
• (-) He has not been studying for 2 hours.
• (?) Has he been studying for 2 hours?

B. PAST TENSES (Masa Lalu)

5. Simple Past Tense

Penggunaan: Kejadian yang terjadi dan selesai di masa lalu.

(+) S + V2 + O  |  (-) S + did + not + V1 + O  |  (?) Did + S + V1 + O?

• (+) We visited Bali yesterday.
• (-) We did not visit Bali yesterday.
• (?) Did you visit Bali yesterday?

6. Past Continuous Tense

Penggunaan: Kejadian yang sedang berlangsung pada waktu tertentu di masa lalu.

(+) S + was/were + V-ing + O  |  (-) S + was/were + not + V-ing + O  |  (?) Was/Were + S + V-ing + O?

• (+) I was sleeping at 8 PM last night.
• (-) I was not sleeping at 8 PM last night.
• (?) Were you sleeping at 8 PM last night?

7. Past Perfect Tense

Penggunaan: Kejadian yang sudah selesai sebelum kejadian lain terjadi di masa lalu.

(+) S + had + V3 + O  |  (-) S + had + not + V3 + O  |  (?) Had + S + V3 + O?

• (+) They had left before I arrived.
• (-) They had not left before I arrived.
• (?) Had they left before you arrived?

8. Past Perfect Continuous Tense

Penggunaan: Aksi yang berlangsung terus-menerus selama periode tertentu sebelum aksi lain terjadi di masa lalu.

(+) S + had + been + V-ing + O  |  (-) S + had + not + been + V-ing + O  |  (?) Had + S + been + V-ing + O?

• (+) She had been waiting for 1 hour when he came.
• (-) She had not been waiting for 1 hour when he came.
• (?) Had she been waiting for 1 hour when he came?

C. FUTURE TENSES (Masa Depan)

9. Simple Future Tense

Penggunaan: Kejadian yang akan dilakukan atau terjadi di masa depan.

(+) S + will + V1 + O  |  (-) S + will + not + V1 + O  |  (?) Will + S + V1 + O?

• (+) I will call you tomorrow.
• (-) I will not call you tomorrow.
• (?) Will you call me tomorrow?

10. Future Continuous Tense

Penggunaan: Aksi yang akan sedang berlangsung pada waktu spesifik di masa depan.

(+) S + will + be + V-ing + O  |  (-) S + will + not + be + V-ing + O  |  (?) Will + S + be + V-ing + O?

• (+) I will be studying at 7 PM tomorrow.
• (-) I will not be studying at 7 PM tomorrow.
• (?) Will you be studying at 7 PM tomorrow?

11. Future Perfect Tense

Penggunaan: Aksi yang diprediksi sudah selesai pada titik waktu tertentu di masa depan.

(+) S + will + have + V3 + O  |  (-) S + will + not + have + V3 + O  |  (?) Will + S + have + V3 + O?

• (+) She will have graduated by next year.
• (-) She will not have graduated by next year.
• (?) Will she have graduated by next year?

12. Future Perfect Continuous Tense

Penggunaan: Menunjukkan durasi aksi yang akan telah berlangsung sampai titik waktu tertentu di masa depan.

(+) S + will + have + been + V-ing + O  |  (-) S + will + not + have + been + V-ing + O  |  (?) Will + S + have + been + V-ing + O?

• (+) By December, I will have been working here for 5 years.
• (-) I will not have been working here for 5 years by December.
• (?) Will you have been working here for 5 years by December?

D. PAST FUTURE TENSES (Pengandaian / Rencana Masa Lalu)

13. Past Future Tense

Penggunaan: Aksi yang direncanakan atau diandaikan di masa lalu.

(+) S + would + V1 + O  |  (-) S + would + not + V1 + O  |  (?) Would + S + V1 + O?

• (+) He said he would help me.
• (-) He said he would not help me.
• (?) Would he help you?

14. Past Future Continuous Tense

Penggunaan: Aksi yang seharusnya sedang berlangsung di masa lalu.

(+) S + would + be + V-ing + O  |  (-) S + would + not + be + V-ing + O  |  (?) Would + S + be + V-ing + O?

• (+) I would be attending the party if I were not sick.
• (-) I would not be attending the party.
• (?) Would you be attending the party?

15. Past Future Perfect Tense

Penggunaan: Pengandaian aksi yang seharusnya sudah selesai di masa lalu namun tidak terjadi.

(+) S + would + have + V3 + O  |  (-) S + would + not + have + V3 + O  |  (?) Would + S + have + V3 + O?

• (+) She would have passed the exam if she had studied.
• (-) She would not have passed the exam.
• (?) Would she have passed the exam?

16. Past Future Perfect Continuous Tense

Penggunaan: Pengandaian aksi yang seharusnya sudah sedang berlangsung dalam durasi tertentu di masa lalu.

(+) S + would + have + been + V-ing + O  |  (-) S + would + not + have + been + V-ing + O  |  (?) Would + S + have + been + V-ing + O?

• (+) I would have been living here for 10 years by last month.
• (-) I would not have been living here for 10 years.
• (?) Would you have been living here for 10 years?
